Have you purchased a home for the antenna possibilities?

I remember living in homes that were purchased for the antenna possibilities. Have you bought a home for the antenna possibilities? My Dad moved from city subdivision to the country when I was 18. The country land had a small house that needed to be rewired and the heater fixed. It did have a great front porch. But, it had 23 acres for antenna placement. And he took advantage of that land.

The Littleton, Colorado house my husband and I purchased was due to its location on the outskirts of the Denver area, near the edge of the main population. It was at the top of a rocky foothill, and we purchased an additional lot. The extra lot had a 100-foot sky needle antenna on it. It took two wreckers to raise it. The backyard had just a regular antenna.
 
Nope, we bought our home before I became a ham. Fortunately, we have many very straight, tall trees and plenty of land, so my horizontal antenna is raised adequately for my needs now - it's about 40' up.
 
Welcome to the forum @Angie and @bkt. @bkt good that you had good tall trees for your antenna.

@Angie, I've not heard of buying a house for the antenna possibilities.

My brother planted those slash pine trees in 1967 when Mom and Dad thought they'd live there forever. They were planted for the dipole antenna possibilities.
 
Those are some tall trees. Did another ham buy the house?

Your dad's move to 23 acres in the country, even with a fixer-upper house, is a classic ham dream.
That kind of space offers almost limitless potential for wire antennas, towers, and truly optimizing signal paths without worrying about HOA restrictions, noise, or limited real estate. He must have had some incredible contacts with that setup!
while I don't do that, I got my home before I even knew anything about a ham
