I got into ham radio last month and set up a small station at home. I'm using a basic antenna. what's the best way to get more range without putting up a big tower?
I have a j-pole mounted in my attic for a total height of about 30' from the ground. That reaches out pretty well for me, but terrain, buildings, trees and such will hurt your range. What radio are you using and how many watts are going out?
Hey @Lazy_Asparagus92, welcome to the forum! You don’t always need a huge tower to get decent range. What radio and power are you running right now? Sometimes just moving the antenna higher or outside makes a big difference.
